"The 2nd stage of awareness in Krav Maga is 'awareness of
yourself'.
By this I mean knowing how you are going to
react under the stress of a confrontation...
I wouldn't be telling the truth if I said that
when someone tries to attack or fight with you
that you WON'T be stressed. You will be. It's a
VERY stressful experience.
Some of the effects you may experience
are as follows:
Bowel loosening - commonly referred to
as a "combat s**t" . This is the body's natural
way of dumping digested food and making your
body lighter and more prepared for action.
Nausea - Similar concept to the above, again
the body is trying to shift excess weight and
digesting food is NOT regarded as an essential
function by the body in high stress situations.
Voice Tremor- The voice can take on a quiver
and the opponent can perceive this as fear. This
NEEDS to be controlled with Krav Maga training.
Tunnel vision - This is the body's way of inducing
a state of higher concentration on the threat
before you. You focus so much on that threat
that anything else around you is ignored. This is
OBVIOUSLY potentially dangerous as it leaves us
open to attacks from other opponents.
The best way to counter in Krav Maga this is to
constantly scan 360 degrees  around you or step
off at an angle of 90 degrees to your opponent so
you can see what was originally behind you in
 your peripheral vision.
Auditory Exclusion- Connected to Tunnel Vision,
the bodies higher state of concentration on the
immediate threat blocks out peripheral noise,
again people who have fought in the cage or ring
in full contact fights often DON'T  hear the crowd
or their corner team shouting instructions."
