We put a lot of thought into what
happens when a BIG thuggy brute gets in
our face and sometimes, it's easy for
us to forget that there are a lot of
scallywags out there that aren't
necessarily drunk and looking to bloody
someone up for fun.
Sometimes, it really is more important
to do SOMETHING than it is to do exactly
the RIGHT thing.
Take this kid in Iowa who was nearly
kidnapped a couple weeks ago.
He wasn't a fighter, he was a teenager.
He wasn't in karate or anything like
that but his dad taught him the SINGLE
most important lesson in all of self-defence.
What is that?
"The worst thing you can do is nothing."
Some dude pulled up in front of this
15-year-old kid, wearing a baseball cap
and tried to grab him and drag him into
the van.
Kid balled up his fist and hammered his
would-be kidnapper in the nose and then
SLAMMED him in the gut.
And like every good self-defence story
SHOULD end, the kid took the hell off
right then and there.
No looking for an opening, he landed
the hits he needed to land to get
away, and he got the hell away.
Good job, kid. Succeeding like that
under conditions as stressful as an
attempted kidnapping is something that
ANY of us should be proud of if it
ever happened to us.
