Self Defence Krav Maga close Combat *Actions and Reactions...

I was watching some footage of actual
street fights the other day and found
that, when you look at most street attacks
they have a common pattern. I mean these
IDIOTS come at you in predictable ways.
Throwing punches, kicks, or using some
kind of weapon.

All these different types of attack can be
dangerous to you. Some more than others.

We asked Jimmy Kelly about how to respond
to a lashing kick...

Jimmy is an ex boxer who has worked bar and
club doors for 17 years. He has experienced
confrontations MANY times and features in
'Real and Tested - Effective Pressure
Points' training series.

"Beware of this type of attack. Very often
they start talking or shouting before kicking you.
The NATURAL thing is to step aback and it's easy
to do. You don't think about it.

The power in a kick is right at the end. Going
backwards helps them and hurts YOU.

I prefer to do the unexpected and move INTO
my attacker. Get in and neutralise their strike.
Then hit them with as MANY strikes as needed to
END the fight. Hit vital areas such as jaw, eyes
etc.

If they seem to try a Thai style kick, I will
respond with a Thai style block which will
potentially cause pain to them."

Andre Martin (who has trained special forces
units) advises caution UNLESS you have trained
in a martial art that uses kicks.

However, he points out that MOST people,
including those who had too much to drink will
not kick fast.

As they attempt to lash out, you will notice
easily and time a push kick. You kick as they try
to do the same, using your front leg.

It will knock them off balance and you can follow
up quickly or move out of there !
