A good friend of mine told me the other
day that he wished he had the confidence
that I have.
Now confidence is a great thing when it
comes to dating, communication, relationships
and human interaction in general.
However, being overly confident in your
fighting and self defense abilities can
get you in a lot of trouble.
First and foremost - you have to be REAL.
Don't underestimate the power of several
opponents. If you are dealing with a gang
or a weapon no flashy moves will save you.
I'm not talking about messing with some
drunk teenagers at a bar.
I'm talking about an encounter with hooligans
or a street gang.
These guys are not stupid. One can distract
you by asking for cigarette or a light. Then
another guy jumps at you from the back.
Being attacked from the back - GAME OVER.
Let's say you decide to take on a bunch of
hostile dudes. So you hit one, maybe even knock
him out. Will the others just stand there and
wait their turn like in a movie? NO!
You will get pushed, punched and kicked until
you are down on the ground.
You only have two arms to defend yourself.
Once you are on the ground you will get some
nice stomping for good measure. There is no
recovery from that.
It's also another reason why flashy moves
and spinning kicks should be avoided on the
street.
Lose your balance and you are
DONE! So what to do if you see a group of
potentially dangerous folks?
Try to avoid the group and do not pay
any attention to them.
Do NOT engage in a conversation. Just keep
doing your thing and calmly leave the area.
If you do get in such fight, land your blows
as soon as you can and look for the quickest
way out.
Remember, I'm not telling you to be a wuss.
Confidence is good and it will get you respect
from men and women likewise.
However, NEVER confuse confidence with stupidity.
